Social media changes for 2012

Social media is on a rampage right now and with 2012 just around the corner, you can expect new trends on the rise.  It’s still all about networking and posting, but now more and more photogenic or visual media is appearing.

The Instagram app on the Iphone, along with many more camera applications, allows for photo sharing and comments. Plus, more and more sights like Pintrest are all posts of thumbnails, or ‘pins’. It’s still networking and social media, it’s just moving to a more visual level than the current written one.

Once again businesses will need to update their form of networking or social media in order to keep up with their consumers. It’s not just about tweeting or posting comments anymore, it’s about pinning and repining cute things or activities your interested in, or taking photos of what’s going on in your life, etc.

Think visually. People want to share interests and take little snippets from here and there and then re-share them. So if you want to connect with your audience, post pictures and videos of not only your product but also other objects, places, situations, etc. that your business is interested in or supportive of.

It’s about connecting socially and building a brand personality. You aren’t networking to solely promote your business and it’s product, you’re networking to make connections and build awareness, to meet people who share the same interests with you. By doing this, people, or possibly clients, will find you eventually.
