Just like fashion, there are trends to web design – colors that are cool today are not so hip tomorrow. For example, white backgrounds with black text were once all the rage, why? Because it was what our eyes were used to reading (computer screens, books, newspapers, etc.) and it would make the adjustment that much simpler.
Not so much today – you will typically see darker backgrounds with lighter text now-a-days. It’s fun to give your mind something new to “stare at” – or hopefully so, as they diligently read through your site.
So how do you stay ahead of the curve – be the trendsetter so to speak, the Lady Gaga if you will, of the fashion industry (although none of us recommend a meat website, we promise).
Just ask one of our designers, creating a web design is just as important as any other portion of your business branding campaign. Whether it’s “hip” or not, you want your site to look and feel similar to the look and feel of your business. It needs to convey the same message as to not get off point of your company’s campaign.
When we meet with a client, we ask some basic questions – beginning with what they love and hate about their current site, what industry sites do they love and hate, who is their target audience. The dreaded target audience question – why is that important, because it can change the entire look of your site.
A site that appeals to 24-40 year-old women had better look completely different than one that appeals to 35-60 year-old men. So, who is your demographic, what does your company do, and how do you want your website to fit into your business model?
While keeping hip is important – staying true to your campaign is much more important – and our designers will work with you to keep your site lively, inviting, and new – all without losing your message.
